My Speech as the BMS Coordinator, delivered on 15th Jan 2011, on the occassion of Shikhar-11 and completion of 10 years of CBMS
Respected dignitaries on the dais, off the dias, parents, teaching & non teaching staff members & my student friends. I wish to first pay my respect to our founder Baba Late Madhukarraoji Chaudhari & seek his blessings in our mission to achieve his visionary ideals. This year, as we stand at an important mile-stone i.e. the completion of 10 years of this course in Chetana, I remember the last conversation I had with him.
He said, “Aplya saunskaaraat shikshan ahe, pun aajchya shikshanaat saunskaar nahi. Yaacha kaitari kela pahije”.
I take pride in the fact that at CBMS we have always strived to attain ‘this’ dream that he had, ‘to empower students to become winners with values.’
The last ten years of this course in Chetana have been a journey through all sorts of experiences; happy, sad, jubilation, stresses, set-backs & successes. In the ten years the course has blossomed to create its own identity & leave a mark on all those, whose lives it has touched, from students to staff, from peers to the public at large.
An important hall mark of our approach has been to constantly engage the students to enable them to explore, realise & harness their potential to become responsible & successful leaders in life.
Every batch of students that has passed out from CBMS has pioneered some activity or the other, has had some unique achievement or the other, to add up to the glorious tradition of striving for perfection & settling with excellence. Almost every activity we conduct has become a bench-mark that is adopted by other colleges & courses. In the last 10 years, our students have excelled in all areas, be it academics, sports, art or management. Our commitment to take education out of the class-rooms has resulted in various activities like Orientation, Industrial visits , Out-station study tours, Personality development camps, Self defence workshops for girls , guest lectures, management Seminars, from organising Securing Borders road expedition to, contributing in the Chetana-Prachi National conference, from our Inter-collegiate Quiz contest Chakraview to this, ‘ Our Inter-collegiate Annual Festival Shikhar’.
In the ten years our students have met & interacted with eminent personalities like Dr Shreedharam, Dr Vargese Kurien, Shri Julio Riberio, Dr, Sadanand Date, Dr A. D Sawant & the list goes on. To understand the various dynamics of management they have visited organisation across the entire spectrum from biscuits at Parle Foods (Vileparle) to assembly lines of fighter Planes at Hindustan Aeronautics ltd (Bangalore), from the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee at the Golden Temple(Amritsar) to Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (Tiruananthapuram), from Jaipur Foot Fabrication Center (Jaipur) to the Indian Military Academy (Dehradhun). Our students have seen it all.
We are pleased to note that students passing out from CBMS are at eminent positions today & making a difference wherever they are. Our ex-students are our ambassadors who have created a deep sense of respect for us, among employers. Our alumni have always been a constant source of feedback & support over the years.
Today we have set sights on a new target ie. motivating students to become entrepreneurs instead of mere job seekers. We take pride in the fact that many of our students are successful business men & business women who walked their first steps with us at CBMS.
That’s not all; I take pride to inform one and all about the expansion of the BMS section by the addition of the second division from the current academic year. Baba, I hope you are happy to see what we have achieved & also in the manner we have done it.
One should not assume that these achievements came easy. For, neither was the road smooth all the time, nor was the weather pleasant. We have seen days where we have been tested to the core of our beliefs & abilities. I believe that the brave never fail, they only suffer set-backs & we have overcome every setback with a killer instinct to accomplish, conditioned by the highest standards of character. I take pride to say that in difficult times our Management has been our greatest source of confidence & strength. We are thankful to our management for the trust bestowed on us & the unfaltering support that has been given to us in this journey. This has always allowed us to accomplish the set goals with grace.
No achievement comes free. Perseverance is the price of prosperity. The perseverance of the staff members is what has resulted in this moment of pride. It will not be wrong to say that ‘whatever CBMS is today has its roots in the blood, sweat & tears of the teaching faculty & non teaching staff members.’
I take this opportunity to thank all my Visiting faculty members for their contributions and support. I thank Mrs. Sonal Nehete, my Assistant Co-ordinator, for her unwavering dedication and support. For me, as a very demanding flight-leader, she really has been an exemplary wing-man, on the entire mission. I also thank Mr. Dnyaneshwar Shinde, who has been my-man-Friday in this quest. I also cannot forget to mention Mr. Yogesh Gujjar & Mr Mahesh Kadam our foot-soldiers in this campaign. Our non-teaching staff members have been a second line of leadership in commanding & harnessing student’s potential & effort in striving for success.
Our students are to us our greatest resource. They are the cause of our existence & the source of our motivation. When we see the joy of success on the faces of our students, we feel that it was worth all that we went through to achieve this. It is our commitment to them that we will forever preserve in getting the best out in them, to make them the best. Even when the medicine meted out to them tastes bitter when consumed, it only helps to make them healthier, physically mentally & spiritually. We wish them all happiness, health and success in life.
A final word to all our students & ex-students assembled here I quote the words of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji to live by. I give you its meaning first.
“O Almighty God bless me so,
May I never hesitate in doing what is right
May I never know fear when fighting evil,
And may ensure that I always emerge victorious”
“Deh Shiva bar mohe ehe
Shubh Karamante Kabhu na taron
Na daron ar son jab jaye ladon
Nischay kar apni jeet karon.”
Thank you.
